Monongahela Beats Syracuse, 6-2
|
Monongahela pitcher Gabel Ambrosius did his part in helping his team beat the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 6-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ambrosius, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. With their winning streak at 4, the Monsters have raced to a strong start this season.
Monongahela relied on the hitting of Brenton Hale to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Monsters on top, 2-0. For the game, Hale had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Hale said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
