Providence got a decent performance from pitcher Wessel de Best, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ithaca Fighting Imps. Ithaca won the Imps Park contest, 3-2. de Best threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Xin-fang Zha earned the save for Ithaca, his 2nd. The loss has the Pilgrims at 6-4.
The Fighting Imps got a big at-bat from third baseman Ricardo De Jesús. For the game, De Jesús was 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Ithaca a 3-1 lead.
Providence manager Bobby Buck said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
