Rainbow Mermaids Sneak Past Shredders, 3-2
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids racked up a win at Atlantica, bumping off the Hollywood Shredders, 3-2. Sean Jones, who started for Northern Virginia, pitched effectively for his team. Northern Virginia pitcher Craig Brooks got the win, upping his record to 2-2. Seong-hyeon Yi got the loss. With the win, Northern Virginia upped its record to 28-17.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Northern Virginia shortstop Ángel Saelices, facing Urs Ehles, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Rainbow Mermaids the 3-2 win.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister.
