A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Plymouth Rocks and Calgary Lynx.
The Plymouth Rocks got a stellar performance from pitcher Harri Haverfldt, who handcuffed the Calgary offense en route to a win, 4-1, at Lynx Stadium. In 7.1 innings, Haverfldt surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Ari Schaller recorded the save for Plymouth, his 23rd of the season.
With runs few and far between, the Rocks had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Plymouth came in the top of the third inning, when left fielder Li-ping Lian delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Asher Mouland and made the score 2-1, Rocks. Lian went 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Lian.
After today's action, Plymouth sits at 38-48, while Calgary falls to 49-37.
