De Jesús Slugs Fighting Imps to 6-2 Win
|
Ricardo De Jesús was instrumental in his team's 6-2 triumph over the Barton Springs Blues. The third baseman slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Ithaca Fighting Imps. Mang Zhong got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Blues to 2 runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 4. Ostoja Randjelovic collected save number 1.
In the top of the second of a scoreless game, De Jesús hit a 2-run home run to put his team ahead.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said De Jesús. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
The loss drops Barton Springs to 2-2.
