Dodos Take Down Reserves, 4-3
|
The Hialeah Dodos did just enough to sneak past the Athletic Club KC Reserves, 4-3, at KC Reserve Stadium. Hialeah pitcher Jesús Ríos, in particular, had a standout performance. Hialeah reliever Joe Gram picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Ton van Aerden was tagged with the loss. Hialeah is now 32-45, Athletic Club KC 37-40.
Hialeah used the timely hitting of Takeshi Kovacs to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dodos on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Ríos said.
