Dodos Get One-Run Win at Bakersfield
|
Bakersfield got a terrific game from designated hitter Addy Spoelstra. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Hialeah, 7-6. Spoelstra went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Kagetoki Matsubara picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Mitch Henley was tagged with the loss. Domingo Jones sewed up the save, his 2nd.
The Dodos benefited from a costly error in the top of the seventh. With Takeshi Kovacs at bat and Hialeah leading 4-3, the Bakersfield miscue allowed Hialeah to plate 1 and take the lead, 5-3.
"It feels good to get this one," Kovacs told the Hialeah Herald.
With the win, Hialeah goes to 26-40, while the Nobles fall to 36-30.
