The Squirrel Hill Pierogis opened their 2048 season with a disappointing 4-2 loss to the Barton Springs Blues at Field of the Rawhides. Shortstop Dave van Schaack was a big part of the win for Barton Springs. He went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

It could have been a different outcome for Barton Springs, had it not been for Elijah Scott, the 28-year old first baseman . Scott contributed a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put Barton Springs up, 2-0.
