Tritons Take Down Nobles, 3-2
|
The Jersey City Tritons picked up a win at Jerome Grounds, knocking off the Bakersfield Nobles, 3-2. Starting pitcher Brian Gardner was an essential part of his team's success. Gardner picked up the win for Jersey City, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 4-4. Jordan Murdoch picked up the save for Jersey City, his 8th of the year.
The result might have been different, had it not been for Rod Clark, the Jersey City center fielder. Clark had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tritons ahead, 3-2. For the game, Clark had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Clark.
After today's action, Jersey City sits at 28-26, while Bakersfield falls to 28-26.
