Guinea Pigs Stop Fighting Imps, 9-1
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs satisfied the home crowd at Experimental Stadium, treating them to a season-opening win, 9-1, over the Ithaca Fighting Imps. Starting Pitcher Greg Ayala was the standout performer for Gwinnett. Brad Hehir picked up the save for Gwinnett, his 1st of the year.
The Guinea Pigs got an important contribution from left fielder Jay Harris, who in the bottom of the third knocked a 2-1 changeup into left for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Guinea Pigs ahead, 6-1.
"A great game, a great day," said Ayala about the win. "I can't complain."
