Martínez, Buzz Too Much for Reserves
The Salt Lake City Buzz knocked off the Athletic Club KC Reserves, 7-6, at Spirits Stadium. Júlio Martínez was a big reason Salt Lake City won. The shortstop went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Ralph DePalma, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-4. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 3. The save went to Bumper Pool, number 3 for him.

Salt Lake City took a 7-3 lead on Martínez's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Keizo Baba in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Salt Lake City to the win.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Martínez, "but we got it done."

After today's action, Salt Lake City sits at 22-27; Athletic Club KC slips to 21-28.
