The St. Petersburg Thunder defeated the Crescent City Krewe, 5-4. Doing his part was first baseman Kun Chieu, who was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Khoury Abdul-Rahim earned the win for St. Petersburg. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Miguel Moreno picked up the save, his 1st.
The Krewe had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Thunder going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old catcher Mark Hart came to the plate. Hart hit a 2-run triple on a 0-1 sinker from Crescent City hurler Gerald Simmons. It was Hart's 1st triple of the year.
"We'll savor this win," Hart told the St. Petersburg Today, "then get ready for the next game."
The loss makes Crescent City 1-1.
