Irving Blue Sox starter Juan Gonzáles was in fine form against the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats at Heron Field, leading his team to a win, 1-0. Gonzáles went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. The save went to Kimmo-Mikka Jokinen, number 1 for him.
Irving used the timely hitting of Pat Wallace to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Sox on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Lake Minnetonka manager Doug Green. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
The win takes Irving to 2-0.
