Redlegs Stay Hot, Beat Humpbacks, 5-2

The Sacramento Redlegs got a stellar performance from pitcher Miguel Pérez, who handcuffed the Alaskan offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Sea World. Pérez, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Willie Steele earned the save, his 11th.
In the top of the first, Vicente Gomillion hit a 2-run home run. The 5th home run of the season for the Sacramento left fielder put the Redlegs on top, 2-0.
Pérez called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The first-place Redlegs have won 5 straight.
