Redlegs Get One-Run Win at Kansas
|
The Sacramento Redlegs eked out a 3-2 win versus the Kansas Rainbeaus at Wichita Field. Nobody did more than first baseman Forrest Reed. He was terrific. Ed Emery, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-0. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Willie Steele, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.
Reed had a timely hit for Sacramento in the top of the sixth. With Kansas trailing 2-1, he turned a first pitch cutter into a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season, making it 3-2, Sacramento.
"Both teams played hard," said Sacramento manager John Brown.
The first-place Redlegs have a one-game lead in their division.
