The Baton Rouge Brass did just enough to secure a victory over the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 1-0, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Nobody did more than pitcher Hildebrand Michielsen. Michielsen went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. The save was credited to Ron Ward, his 2nd.
With runs few and far between, the Brass had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Baton Rouge came in the top of the fourth inning, when catcher Jermaine Vassell delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Juan Pujol and made the score 1-0, Brass. Vassell was 1 for 3 with a walk.
"Both teams played hard," said Baton Rouge manager Jarred Smith.
The 6th-place Brass now have a win-loss record of 21-21.
