The Nolensville Knights got a superb performance from second baseman Xiao-yong Huang, but the Vermont Lake Monsters still won the game, 4-3. Huang went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Marvin Stevens earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 3-2. The save was credited to Jerry Sargent, his 3rd.
Vermont used the clutch hitting of Marcantonio Talamante to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lake Monsters ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"This was a good win," said Talamante.
The victory puts Vermont at 8-13.
