Kansas Rainbeaus starter Kevin Hamm was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Salt Lake City Buzz, 4-2. The winner in relief was Ray Russell. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Byron Vyse earned the save, his 4th, for the Rainbeaus.
In the bottom of the seventh, Kansas first baseman Shun Fukui hit a 2-run single to center field. The clutch hit made it, 4-2, Rainbeaus.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Fukui.
Salt Lake City now is 5-3.
