Nuevo Mexico's Stephens Will Miss Season
Wednesday, June 5th , 2047
The doctors have spoken and José Stephens of the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis didn't like what he heard. The 24-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Stephens sustained his season-ending injury during the Olympia Ogres game yesterday at The Ogre Den. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Nuevo Mexico medical staff reported Stephens had a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 8 months.
To date this season Stephens is 1-2 with 5 starts and an ERA of 5.32 with 11 strikeouts in 23.2 innings.
