Pope Pitches Lancaster to Shutout Victory
Saturday, August 31st , 2047
The Asheville Highlanders struggled at the plate today against Farmers hurler Jeffrey Pope, who shackled them on 4 hits while hurling a complete game 12-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Highlanders skipper Jonah Moody in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Pope finished the game with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," Lancaster manager Dylan Smith said. "Jeffrey made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
His record this season is 9-6 in 22 starts and Pope has a 3.12 ERA.
