3-HR Day for Baars Saturday, August 17th , 2047 Hamilton Coyotes first baseman Imbart Baars put on a dazzling display of power today at Ballpark of Port Royal against the Port Royal Disaster. In the 8-3 Coyotes victory Baars penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Port Royal manager Clint Davis said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 29-year-old had 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Baars said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Imbart Baars hit a solo-shot off Raúl Fuentes in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Takayuki Shimizu in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Denis Jongenelen in the 9th. So far this season Baars is hitting .228 with 13 home runs. |
