3AAA Relief Ace Torres Named Best Hurler Thursday, August 1st , 2047 A money pitcher -- the guy to bet on, when the chips are down. That's a very good description of a bullpen specialist. And one of the best in the league is Jorge Torres of the Syracuse Starks. He was outstanding in July and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the M3L Triple A. In July, Syracuse's star reliever held the opposition to a .227 average and put up 9 saves and 11 strikeouts in 11.2 innings with a 1-0 mark and a 0.77 ERA. Taking a look at his season, Torres has made 22 relief appearances, recorded 15 saves and compiled a 1-2 won-lost mark and a 2.11 ERA. In pitching 21.1 innings, he has totaled 18 strikeouts and 10 walks. |
