Gómez on Fire: Burns Myrtle Beach with 3 HR Saturday, August 18th , 2046 South Beach Blaze right fielder Jorge Gómez had a magnificent game against the Myrtle Beach Seahawks today, rocketing three balls out of The Ballpark on the Beach to help the Blaze take the 7-5 victory. "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes." For the game, Gómez went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," South Beach manager Vicente Rodríguez said later. "Seems like Jorge found his home run stroke today." Jorge Gómez struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Robert Brewer in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Scott Smith in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off Scott Smith in the 7th. This season Gómez has hit 21 home runs and posted a .203 batting average. |
