Chappell Terrific, Takes SA Outstanding Hitter Award Thursday, September 26th , 2047 At the age of 23, Calvin Chappell of the Laredo Hawks could very well have his best years ahead of him. It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2047 was good enough to win the third baseman the USSL Single A Outstanding Hitter Award. "See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach." The top hitter put up a .254 batting average this year, as well as a .365 on-base percentage. He played 96 games and racked up 94 hits, 13 doubles, no triples, 35 home runs, 78 RBIs and 67 runs scored. He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 10. Nick Christensen of the Pontiac Godfathers finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Freek Derksen of the Huntington Hermit Crabs finished third.
