5 Hits for Commodores Booth Tuesday, July 3rd , 2046 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Bill Booth, it came around today. The 21-year-old shortstop scattered hits all over Washington Park to pace the Put-In-Bay Commodores to a 9-6 victory over the Washington Generals. Washington skipper Nick Hoskins told reporters in the press room that "Booth deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Booth hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Bill Booth singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off Nobuatsu Toshishai in the 12th.
