Caballero Silences Northern Virginia, 6-0 Saturday, September 14th , 2047 The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Athletic Club KC. The Rainbow Mermaids were overpowered by Athletic Club KC starter Alfonso Caballero, who hurled his club to victory, 6-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," David Lister said. Over 9 innings, Caballero blanked Northern Virginia on 7 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Caballero said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." This season Caballero has compiled a 12-6 record with a 3.50 ERA in 23 starts.
