ToC Semi-Finals Game 1 Victory for Cope and Northern Virginia
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids started the ToC Semi-Finals in style today, downing the visiting Boston Patriots at Atlantica by a score of 5-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Rainbow Mermaids left-hander Horace Cope threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball.

With two out in the bottom of the fourth, Kjartan Einarsson barreled up a fastball from Heath Hennington. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Rainbow Mermaids in front, 3-0.

"It's hard to overstate how much this mattered to us, especially in a short series," Northern Virginia manager David Lister said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atlantica in Hampton.
