The Mississippi Mockingbirds wiggled past the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 5-4, at Pittsburgh Grounds. The win was highlighted by the performance of Mississippi pitcher Noud Taaij. Mississippi, at 43-12, is 9½ games up in the Silver League.
It could have been a different outcome for Mississippi, had it not been for Nikolai Volkoff, the fan favorite . Volkoff contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Mississippi up, 5-4.
