The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople picked up a win at Titans Ballpark, knocking off the Crowley Cajuns, 4-3. Starting pitcher José Ramos was a big reason why. Ramos, the winner, moves to 7-6. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Tom Hancock got the save, the 19th for him this season.
Ellesmere Island got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Sam Ávila. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Snowpeople ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"José just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Ellesmere Island manager Mesa Altuve.
Ellesmere Island is 8th in the Menard's R with a record of 39-48.
