Grey Wolves Down Patriots, 4-2
|
Despite a great performance by Boston catcher Masafumi Kawaguchi, the Vancouver Grey Wolves defeated the Patriots by the score of 4-2 at Dunkin Donuts Park. Kawaguchi went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Vancouver pitcher Michael Knight got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Robert Smalls got the loss. The Grey Wolves are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 6th win in 16 games.
Vancouver needed the clutch hitting of Pavlushenka Galanov to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Grey Wolves on top, 4-2. For the game, Galanov had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Galanov told the Vancouver Chronicle.
