Dye Torches Beavers for 5 Hits
|
After his 5-hit effort at Hound Pound was tarnished by Hicksville's 3-2 loss to the Ballard Beavers, center fielder John Dye told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win."
He didn't get the win, but the 21-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Beavers.
"His swing is getting there," said Hounds skipper Oliver Burrell after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. John did that to perfection today and we wasted it."
John Dye singled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
A look at his current stats shows Dye with a .305 average, 4 home runs, 32 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He has played in 36 games.
