Trevithick, Lakers Beat Kingfishers, 6-3
|
The Echo Park Lakers beat the Pittsburgh Kingfishers by a score of 6-3. Echo Park first baseman Richard Trevithick deserved the lion's share of the credit. Trevithick went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Lakers. Nick Altrock got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. John Gaudet was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
The Lakers had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 6-3, Echo Park, with one out. Pittsburgh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Aubrey Magee dug in at the plate, but on a full count fastball, he lined out.
The Lakers, at 22-22, have now won 4 straight.
