Bompton Defeats Quebec City, 3-2
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers eked out a 3-2 win versus the Quebec City Baby Blues at Dylan Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Norberto González. He was terrific. González went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 9. His record improves to 6-1. José Vargas picked up the save for Bompton, his 3rd of the year.
Jon Griffin, who leads the SR in stolen bases with 30, contributed to the Bompton win with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
After the game, Bompton manager Pat Carrasco applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
Bompton goes to 59-19. The win puts them 10½ games up in their division.
