San Mateo rode a good effort from starter Sylvain Richard to beat the Toledo Stingers at Lang Park. The final score was 3-2. Richard got the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Richard allowed 2 runs. Earning his 3rd save for San Mateo was Bill Turner.

The Dirty Reds took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Jason Slaybaugh banged a two-out double. San Mateo had been trailing 2-1, but Slaybaugh hit a 2-2 changeup from Josh Gentry for a 2-run double.

"We were in it," said Toledo manager TJ Reynolds. "We just didn't score enough runs."

The second-place Dirty Reds are now 26-16, the Stingers 15-27.
