Hounds Jolt Sea Dogs, 5-3, with Late Rally

Maine got a terrific performance from pitcher Juan Cruz, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hicksville Hounds. Hicksville won the Sea Dogs Park contest, 5-3. Cruz threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Jesús Guevara, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The win puts Hicksville at 8-3.
It could have been a different outcome for Hicksville, had it not been for Jon Hersey, the 21-year old right fielder . Hersey contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Hicksville up, 4-3.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Hersey told the Hicksville News.
