San Mateo Beats Pittsburgh, 6-5
|
Pittsburgh right fielder Gustavo Gonzáles had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Gonzáles went 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, even as San Mateo beat the Kingfishers, 6-5. Travis Morgan earned the win to go to 7-0. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. Bill Turner recorded his 2nd save for San Mateo.
Kawenaula Alohalani had an important at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season put San Mateo on top, 6-4.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Alohalani said.
San Mateo is second in the Silver League with a record of 24-15.
