The Franklin Fire got a superb performance from pitcher Daan Eland. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Moose Jaw. The Canucks won the game, 5-4. Eland threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Tsurayaki Tanaka, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Moose Jaw goes to 5-3.
Had César Medina not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Medina hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Canucks.
"It was a good effort all around," said Medina.
