The Beaumont Crossbeaus blasted the Memphis Music, 17-1, at The Stage in Memphis. Beaumont second baseman Miguel Escóta had a productive day. He went 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. Picking up the win was Douggie Westcott. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 4. The Crossbeaus now own a record of 27-17.
The Crossbeaus got a big hit from first baseman Bill John. In the top of the ninth, John pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season put the Crossbeaus ahead, 17-1.
Memphis manager Dave Everett called the blowout loss "just something that happens from time to time."
