Interns Sneak By Baby Lakers, 9-8
|
The Capital Hill Interns defeated the Bompton Baby Lakers, 9-8. Doing his part was third baseman Kuniyuki Sato, who was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Capital Hill reliever Francisco Luna picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Lee Fortescue was tagged with the loss. Losses have been rare for the Baby Lakers, who are now 14-2.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Kerry Carcia came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Bompton pitcher Lee Fortescue, he hit a full count sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Capital Hill on top, 9-8.
"Enjoyed this one," Carcia told the Capital Hill News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
