U-24 Prevail, 3-2, Over Kennesaw
|
The Athletic Club KC U-24 had to overcome a big game from Kennesaw third baseman Miron Bozovic to leave ACKC Youth Field with a victory. And they did, winning 3-2. Bozovic went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. The winner was Gunnar Hicks, who threw 95 pitches over 5.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits. The win elevated the U-24 to 41-40.
The Jets had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the U-24 going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the top prospect Vasan Parthiban came to the plate. Parthiban hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 splitter from Kennesaw hurler Carlos Gómez. It was Parthiban's 16th home run of the year.
"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Parthiban after the game.
