Octopi Earn 3-1 Road Win Over Greenport
|
The Ogallala Octopi got a strong performance from pitcher José Valdonado, who stymied the Greenport offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Ballpark of Robbins. Valdonado, now 4-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Jimmy Morales finished the game for Ogallala and earned his 2nd save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jorge Gavilanes? The Ogallala shortstop had a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Octopi on top, 2-0. For the game, Gavilanes had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was a solid team effort," said Valdonado after the game.
Ogallala is now riding a 4-game win streak.
