Bullets Edge Dirty Reds, 1-0
|
The Baltimore Bullets took San Mateo pitcher Jorge González's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Baltimore Grounds. The final score had Baltimore getting past the Dirty Reds, 1-0. González went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 5. Baltimore reliever Ron Lucas picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Jorge González absorbed the loss. With the win, Baltimore has a record of 10-14. San Mateo falls to 15-9.
The Bullets beat the Dirty Reds in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Javier Sierra produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against González, Sierra gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"We found a way to get it done," Sierra said.
