Hawks Squelch Yinzers Offense in Shutout Win
|
Laredo Hawks starter John Parker pitched his team past the Monroeville Yinzers, 5-0. The winning pitcher was Parker, now 1-0. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The win lifted the Laredo record to 50-45.
Calvin Chappell tagged a home run off Jim Givens in the bottom of the third. His solo blast put the Hawks on top, 1-0. In all, Chappell had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Laredo manager Leonardo Sánchez. "Our pregame was pretty good."
