The Huntington Hermit Crabs topped the Washington Generals, 3-1, in USSL Single A action at Washington Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Huntington pitcher Albert Surtees. In 7 innings, Surtees surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. With the win, Huntington pushed its record to 67-27.
George Mayes, the 23-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Mayes contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Huntington up, 3-1.
