The Monroeville Yinzers defeated the Yucca Valley Yellows, 3-1, in USSL Single A action at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. Monroeville pitcher Natalino Gasco had a standout performance. Gasco got the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 3 hits and walked 3 over 5.2 innings. Gasco allowed no runs. Cipriano Rosas picked up the save, his 9th.
In the bottom of the third, John Bly hit a run-scoring triple. The 5th triple of the season for the Monroeville shortstop put the Yinzers on top, 1-0.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Bly told the Monroeville Citizen.
The victory puts Monroeville at 31-53.
