The Huntington Hermit Crabs beat the Grand Forks Caterpillars, 3-1, at The Shell. The Hermit Crabs got a fine performance from designated hitter Arhippa Rintala, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. Huntington reliever Rex Davis picked up the win to move to 3-0. Juan Ochoa suffered the loss. Eisaku Ishikawa converted his 23rd save in 23 tries.
George Mayes, who is tied for 8th in the SA in bases on balls with 45, came through for Huntington with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. The catcher went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 2 RBI.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Rintala told the Huntington Citizen. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
Huntington is sailing along at 58-25.
