Extra-Inning Win by Hobeaus Over Generals
|
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus topped the Washington Generals, 7-4, in USSL Single A action at Washington Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Smoky Mountain pitcher Ira Bischoff. Smoky Mountain reliever Kanne Kaspers got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Augusto Rey was tagged with the loss. Smoky Mountain is 30-42 and Washington, with the loss, 37-35.
Smoky Mountain used the bat of Jesús Fernández to capture the win. The third baseman jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hobeaus ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"We own our own mistakes," Bischoff told a reporter after the game. "But we share our victories."
