Pollard Lifts Generals to 4-2 Triumph
|
The Washington Generals and Smoky Mountain Hobeaus played an exciting game.
The Washington Generals topped the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus by the score of 4-2, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Ron Pollard. Pollard was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Generals. Juan Gutiérrez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 16th save.
Pollard had a timely hit for Washington in the top of the sixth. With Smoky Mountain trailing 2-0, he turned a 1-1 changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season, making it 3-2, Washington.
