Yinzers Rally For 6-2 Win
|
The Monroeville Yinzers faced a tough opponent in Put-In-Bay pitcher Buddy Santegoeds, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Put-In-Bay Ballpark by a final score of 6-2. Santegoeds went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Monroeville occupies last place in the Silver A at 20-36.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Jeremy Payne's at-bat in the top of the ninth was vitally important. With one out, the Monroeville pinch hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Payne told a Monroeville Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
