Commodores Top Caterpillars in Extras, 2-0
|
The Grand Forks Caterpillars got a sterling performance from pitcher Young-kwang Chong, but the Put-In-Bay Commodores still prevailed, 2-0. Chong threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Put-In-Bay reliever Richard McAfee picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Jorge Bernard absorbed the loss. Jorge Solís, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Put-In-Bay took a 2-0 lead on Gerald Chambers's 10th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Chambers hit in the top of the 17th, left Grand Forks pitcher Juan Ramírez shaking his head.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Put-In-Bay manager António Pineda.
Put-In-Bay bumps their record to 23-30 with the win.
